On the back of his critically-lauded debut album In Colour, Jamie xx has announced a visit to Australian shores to grace the stages of Beyond The Valley (Victoria), Lost Paradise (New South Wales) and FOMO (Queensland) festivals. And today, he announces a special headline Melbourne sideshow happening at the iconic Forum Theatre on Sunday 10 January.

Jamie xx finds himself at the forefront of a progressive, boundary-pushing group of producers (drawing comparisons to Four Tet, Nosaj Thing and Nicolas Jaar) that are paving the way for dance music in the 21st century. Taking influence from early 80’s and 90’s British rave culture and moulding it into his own inimitable hybrid, Jamie xx's music is met with widespread acclaim from contemporary fans both old and new. His debut album In Colour marks the maturation of Jamie xx as a solo artist and serves as a coming-out party of sorts, serving as his full-length project away from the wildly successful group The xx.

From the calypso-flecked rhythms of Young Thug and Popcaan-assisted summer anthem ‘I Know There’s Gonna Be (Good Times)’ to the break-beat crescendo of opener ‘Gosh’, In Colour provides listeners with an insight into one of the sharpest minds in electronic music. Both a critical and commercial success, the album was described by Q Magazine as “rich, complex and dazzlingly fluid" and NME as “a euphoric solo debut” while Pitchfork stated “It’s the dazzling culmination of Jamie xx’s last six years of work".

On release, In Colour entered the top echelons of album charts around the world, including #2 ARIA Album Chart spot, Top 3 placing in the UK album charts and the #1 spot in the US Billboard Electronic chart. Jamie xx recently revealed the video for ‘I Know There’s Gonna Be (Good Times)’. featuring Young Thug and Popcaan shot in New York and Jamaica and we saw the premiere of Skepta’s much-hyped remix of the track receiving its first full play when Annie Mac made it the ‘Hottest Record In The World’ on BBC Radio 1.
